[REVIEW] Daiso Skincare Rich Moist Essence Mask, Hit or Miss?

daiso skincare

I got excited when I saw a lots of masks on Daiso‘s display.  I am that kind of person who can’t hold my The desire to shop once arrived at Daiso, lol. Imagine, I usually only need one item while there. When I got home, I could carry a big bag full of groceries.

The biggest question is, is this hit or miss product?

Is it worth it to buy?

Daiso Skincare Rich Moist Essence Mask

There are four kinds of masks here: camellia oil, black pearl, pearl barley, and matcha. I got these for $2 SGD per each, about Rp 19.000, it is kinda cheap.  If you buy sheet mask online in Indonesia, you have to spend at least Rp 18.000 – Rp 25.000 per each masks.

But, with the same price as Etude House Hyaluronic Acid I also bought from Etude House at Bugis Junction, are those worth it to try?

Water, Butylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Glicerin, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Soluble Collagen, Aesculus Hippocastanum (Horse Chesnut) Seed Extract, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract, Hedera Helix (Ivy) Leaf/Stem Extract, Hypercium Perforatum Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Leaf Extract, Caprylyl Glycol Hydroxyethylcellulose PEG-20 Sorbitan Cocoate, Phenoxyethanol Citrate, Citric Acid

What You Should Know About The Ingredients

I only use the camellia one, but those have pretty similar ingredients.  The only thing that distinguishes only the main ingredient: one camellia oil, one pearl barley, one black pearl, one matcha.

List that need to be considered is as follows:

  • Butylene Glycol is a chemical compound —a colorless organic alcohol used to help the products dissolve in water, to thin creams and gels so they are easier to use, and as a conditioning agent.  This is a questionable ingredients because of its nature that is derived from petroleum. So far there is no scientific studies show about the side effects, but if you prohibited from using skincare material from petroleum, this mask should be avoided.
  • Soluble Collagen is a s a nonhydrolyzed, native protein derived from the connective tissue of young animals. Beware of the word collagen as it also can be derived from pig skin or human skin. Soluble collagen also can be made from fish skin or cattle skin.  We cannot make sure unless you questioned the company whether it is safe and halal or not.

But actually I bought and used this without checking at all; _; I can only hope that this collagen does not come            from material that is prohibited in my religion.

How To Use

  1. Wash your face then place the mask over your eyes and mouth before folding it out and applying it to your face
  2. Leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes, then remove.
  3. Rub the remaining lotion into your skin, then continue with your normal skincare routine

What This Product Tell Us

It surely does has a thick (and not soft, so it is claimed) 100% natural cotton sheet.  I thought it had a certain fragrance, but it did not. The essence is very fluid, in contrast to the essence of a Korean mask that tends to stick more in the skin.

As I compare  to Korea’s low end masks, I prefer to wear a Korean-made mask because more essence is attached to the skin.Wearing such a thick mask does not make me believe that there is enough essence to be carried when the pack is opened.

After use, there is still enough left (originally this is 30 ml) in the package. Normally I like to keep the remaining essence for me to rub it again later (because I am very frugal, lol), but I myself do not like the essence of this mask. Although Korean-made masks tend to be thinner (and prone to tearing), the sensation of cold and humid immediately felt in the skin, making masks from Etude House is better than the mask from Daiso.

Only $2 SGD (Rp 19K), bought in Daiso Japan, Plaza Singapore

Will I Repurchase?

No. This is a miss product
